The Baykal Lake is the deepest in the world and one of the biggest. Very large reservoir of fresh water (1/5 of the whole planet), it is characterized by a very varied landscape and by a big number of vegetal and animal species. Among the latter it is especially the Baykal seal, called "nerpa", which can be seen alive in the aquarium of the museum, and the fish "omoul", very popular in the local cuisine, who are the true celebrities of the lake.
The railway Krougobaykalka", which, as its name indicates, goes round the Baykal, allows to admire it in every season.
Considered as one of the wonders of the Russian landscape, Baykal is very appreciated both by the Russians and by the foreign tourists who come from the whole world to see it.
